CLASSIC
SCARF
This scarf is knitted with circular needles to create a long tube. After
blocking, both ends are closed off with fringe. Advantages of this method
are; extra warmth provided by the double layering, appearance of neatness,
and no curling along the edges.
YARN
4 balls of Fable Handknit, Pure Baby Alpaca, #04 Sea Foam
NEEDLES
4 mm circular needles, 16”
Crochet hook
TENSION
22 sts / 30 rows= 4” or 10 cm in Stockinette stitch
GAUGE IS NOT CRUCIAL FOR THIS PATTERN
FINISHED SIZE
Length 51” x Width 6”
SCARF
Prepare yarn for fringe and set aside. Cast on 92 sts with circular
needles. Join ends. Work in Stockinette stitch until scarf measures 51”
(382 rows) or until desired length. Bind off.
BLOCKING
Block scarf to measurements. Stitches will tend to sit diagonally, align
so that stitches are straight. Use pins to hold in place.
FRINGE
Cut 16 sets of 3 strands of yarn, measuring 10” in length. With each set,
fold in half to create a loop. Insert crochet hook through both layers of
the scarf, pull loop through with hook, and pull ends of strands through
the loop. Pull to tighten. Add fringe between every 2 sts. Trim fringe
neatly when all strands are in place. |
