This cap has the appearance of crochet, but rather, is knitted in the rnd with circular needles.

4 mm circular needles 16"
4 mm double-pointed needles

TENSION
22 sts z 30 rows= 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch

STITCH PATTERN
Garter Stitch : On circular needles, to create garter stitch, knit 1 rnd, purl one rnd.
Drop Stitch (DS): Same as knit stitch, except yarn is wrapped around right needle twice instead of once. On the next row, knit a normal but unravel the extra loop in each stitch.

CAP
Cast on 91 sts. Place marker. Join together. Work in garter st for 6 rnds, starting with a rnd of purl sts. .
Rnd 1, 3, 5, 7, 9:: Work in drop stitch (DS).
Rnd 2, 4, 6, 8: 10: Knit (as indicated for drop stitch)
Rnd 11: DS 5, k2tog. (78 sts)
Rnd 12: Knit
Rnd 13: DS
Rnd 14: Knit
Rnd 15: DS 4, k2tog. (65 sts)
Rnd 16: Knit
Rnd 17: DS
Rnd 18: Knit
Rnd 19: DS 3, k2tog. (52 sts)
Rnd 20: Knit
Rnd 21: DS 2, K2tog (39 sts)
Rnd 22: Knit
Rnd 23: DS 1, k2tog. (26 sts)
Rnd 24: Knit. Switch to double pointed needles.
Rnd 25: Purl
Rnd 26:K2tog (13 sts)
Rnd 27: Purl
End 28: K2tog (7 sts)
Rnd 29: Purl.
Break off yarn, leaving a tail of 8 inches. Using a tapestry needle, thread yarn through remaining sts. Pull to gather. Secure with knot on wrong side. Weave in loose ends.
