3.5 mm straight needles
4 mm straight needles
4 mm circular needles
TENSION
22 sts / 30 rows= 4” or 10 cm in Stockinette stitch on 4 mm needles.
TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE
SNITCH PATTERN
Stockinette stitch: knit 1 row, purl 1 row.
1 x 1 Rib: knit, purl, repeat.
BODY
With 4 mm straight needles, cast on 82(88:94:100:104) Sts. Work in
Stockinette stitch. Work 1 row. Dec 1 st on each side of every row, 4(6:6:4:0) times.
Dec 1 st on each side of every 2nd row, 26(27:29:32:36) times until piece
measures 7.5(8:8.5:9:9.5) inches, 56(60:64:68:72) rows. On WS, bind off
remaining 22(22:24:28:32) sts.
SLEEVES
With 3.5 mm straight needles, cast on 52(56:58:60:66) sts. Leave a tail of
approx. 40” for seaming. Work in 1x1 rib, end each row in knit, for 18
rows. Switch to 4 mm straight needles. Begin work in Stockinette st.
Inc 1 st on each side on every 6th row, 11(10:10:11:12) times until
there are 74(76:78:82:90) sts. Work more 5 rows.
Sleeve shaping
On WS. dec 1 st on each side. Next row, dec 1 st on each side of every 2nd
row, 15(15:15:14:13) times, until there are 42(44:46:52:62). Dec 1 st on
each side of every 4th row, 2(3:4:5:6) times, until there are
38(38:38:42:50) sts. Work 19(19:19:21:25) sts, place marker. *Dec 1 at the
beginning of the row, k2tog on each side of marker, dec 1 st at the end of
the row. Purl next row. *Repeat 8(8:8:9:11) times until 6 sts remain.
K2tog (3 sts remain). K3tog. Bind off the last stitch. Leave a 20" tail
for seaming. Make a second
sleeve.
FINISHING
Block all pieces to measurements. Sew sleeve seams using mattress stitch and sew one side of each sleeve head to body
using backstitch.
Ribbing
Use 4 mm circular needles to evenly pick up sts starting from body hem,
all around sleeve head and back neck. Make sure there is an even number of
stitches. Join, and work in 1 x 1 rib stitch for 5 rows. Bind off in rib.
Weave in all loose ends.
